In 2005, the City of Pittsburg completed a Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG) Inventory, the first step in a five step process including GHG Measurement, Setting a Target, Developing a Climate Action Plan, Implementation Plan and Monitoring Success. The city then set a goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 15% below what they were in 2005 by 2020. In 2010, Pittsburg undertook the task of developing a local Climate Action Plan to develop solutions and outline new city programs to reduce their carbon footprint on a citywide and residential scale. To date, Pittsburg has been manually reporting its energy-efficiency usage, projects and efforts.
